Cal Jazz Choir

Cal Jazz Choir is a student-run vocal jazz ensemble that performs an extensive array of a cappella jazz, including showtunes, fast bebop, ballads, bossa nova, and jazzified Cal songs. CJC sings student-arranged pieces, as well as repertoire from well-known vocal groups like The Real Group, The Manhattan Transfer, and The New York Voices.

Artists in Resonance, casually known on campus as AiR, is UC Berkeley's premier A Capella group. From our beginnings in 1987, we now have seventeen amazing performers and perform a repertoire of self-arranged pieces, with everything from jazz to indie pop.

UC Men's Octet

The UC Men's Octet is the premier a cappella group at the University of California, Berkeley. Founded in 1948, the Octet has entertained audiences with close harmonies, zany stage antics, and our wide repertoire of barbershop, doo-wop, contemporary pop, modern alternative, and of course, Cal fight songs. The group has released dozens of recordings over the years and has shined on the biggest stages, winning the International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella twice.

We sing regularly on campus and around the Bay Area for alumni groups and the public, culminating in our annual Spring Show. That being said, our most important performances are every Wednesday at 1pm under the beautiful Sather Gate!

Drawn to Scale

Drawn to Scale, affectionately known as DTS, is UC Berkeley's competitive co-ed a cappella group, with a wide variety of interests and majors but a shared love of singing. Their repertoire ranges from pop and indie to rock, R&B, and contemporary — brought to life through student-made arrangements and innovative choreography. In February 2025, they became two-time ICCA semifinalists, placing 2nd at the ICCA West Quarterfinal and earning Best Choreography for the second year in a row.

The California Golden Overtones

The California Golden Overtones are the premier all-female identifying and gender non-conforming a cappella group at UC Berkeley. Founded in 1962, the Overtones have released multiple albums and regularly compete at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, reaching the west semifinals in 2023. The Overtones can often be found breaking out into harmonies and practicing dance moves in their signature heels!
